Did you know?

Cattle are ungulates, meaning they have hooves. Their hooves are split into two parts, and are made from the same material as human fingernails.

Cows’ udders are divided into four quarters, each with a teat. If one quarter is empty, there will always be another one full.

Cows are ruminants. This means that they regurgitate food and chew on it again – a process known as chewing the cud. Ruminating and chewing the cud now also mean thinking long and hard about something.

The Stomach

Cows do not actually have four stomachs – their stomachs have four separate chambers. This helps them break down the grass and vegetation they eat.

Cattle get excited when they solve problems,
and especially love being let out into a field
after being confined indoors.
